People often completely misunderstand what forums and other social media are about. Forums are not for selling. I repeat: NOT for selling! "But... I've got a great product!", you say. Tough. Forums do not welcome salespeople. Selling is not why people join forums. Folks join forums to meet people. No other reason. They gather there to talk, argue, get news and information. That's it. If you don't want to do those things, stay off the forums. There are other places where you can be a salesperson. But on the other hand... If you do like those activities, then, ironically... forums become great places to sell! But you must... 2. Remember what your mother taught you. Your mother said, over and over, to say thank you and you're welcome, say please, and generally be nice and agreeable. Good internet marketing methods require no less of us. Start yakking about your widget, free list, product, or incredible world-beating product... and you may be thrown off of that forum. For good. If you take away one thing, take away this: Forums are great places to sell, but only because they are great places to meet people. Internet marketing methods come and go.
