When people read about pay per click marketing, they always hear about the super affiliates who make thousands of dollars a day with PPC. They get very excited, jump right in, and spend a hundred bucks or so on their first PPC campaign. This campaign probably results in little to no conversions and they give up then and there.
When people hear about pay per click marketing, they always hear about the internet marketers who make thousands of dollars a day with PPC. They get very excited, jump right in, and spend a hundred bucks or so on their first PPC campaign. This campaign probably results in little to no conversions and they give up then and there. There are several steps you must master before you can become profitable with PPC. It is not a matter of throwing up something in five minutes and seeing what works. You will need to research and implement each part of the process properly, otherwise your campaign will not succeed. The first step of the process is to figure out what product you would like to sell. To begin, come up with a list of 10 or so topics you would be excited about promoting. You will spend a lot of time researching the topic and product, so make sure its interesting enough that you wont quit in the middle. Next, you need to find products with affiliate programs in the topics that you wrote down. Affiliate products pay you a certain percentage every time you sell that product. The best places to find these products include clickbank.com, cj.com, linkshare.com, and e-junkie.com. There are hundreds of other sites to try as well, so just look around. Once you've chosen the product you want to sell, you need to start with keyword research. For this, you can use a free tool like the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. Input keywords into this tool, and it will spit out a long list of related long tail keywords that you can add. The most profitable keywords are the ones that visitors often use when they are searching with an intent to buy a certain product. Now that you have your keywords and product, you will need to create a landing page for it. A landing page gives you a chance to pre-sell your product to your customer. The alternative is to direct link to the product itself, but many pay-per-click engines like Google Adwords frown upon this practice. If you don't have any design skills, you can outsource the landing page creation to a professional web developer. Next, you will have to decide which pay per click advertising platform you want to advertise on. The biggest one is Google Adwords, and they will definitely send you the most people. MSN Adcenter and Yahoo Search Marketing are also ok alternatives. I would suggest starting with Adwords first, and once you develop some profitable campaigns with them, you can easily move them over to the others. When creating your campaign, you will need to come up with some ads. Your ads need to be super targeted to your keywords so they match what the visitors are looking for. Your ad text should also be written in a way that catches the visitors eye. Using methods like social proof or writing catchy headlines work quite well. A high ad click through rate is one of the most important parts of a profitable campaign, so make sure you create at least a couple of ads and continually test which one performs the best. You should now be able to identify the steps of a good PPC campaign. Although it sounds like a lot of work, you will definitely get better at it the more campaigns you start. Always keep testing and optimizing and soon you will have some money-making campaigns.
